A number of partners have already committed financially to bring this extraordinary Center to life, including all levels of government. We are also pleased to have private sector partnerships in place.
Cultural education programs currently delivered by partnering academic institutions – Acadia University, Nova Scotia Community College and Université Sainte-Anne – will transfer to the Center, with a goal to provide visitors with a deep understanding of the history, culture and traditions of the black community in Digby.
World Class Technology and Tools to Reach Teachers and Youth
One of the programs identified for implementation through these community consultations was “Our Story: Strengthening Cultural Identity.” This is a multigenerational African history and cultural development program that will promote racial pride and while developing cultural esteem in all members of the community.
This program will be designed from an Africentric lens / world view positioning Africa at its core. “Our Story” will provide a solid cultural foundation, especially for children and youth, enabling the community to build strategies to combat the racism and discrimination they will encounter as persons of African ancestry.
